Nuclear Power Corporation of India

Partnered for Women empowerment

Centum Foundation partnered with NPCIL to establish a Stitching/ Industrial Tailoring training center with an objective to improve the employability and enable women empowerment among the rural women living in the vicinity of NPCIL plant. The objective was to train and empower 200 women in five villages of Karnataka on tailoring course.

The success of this project lies in the words of one trainee representing the sentiment of all, “It took least five years for me to even realize that I was a business woman. I was just a housewife with absolutely no experience doing business. Initially I didn’t even know what to or how to talk to my employees. Today, I have the courage and confidence to talk to anyone. Sometimes I feel all the housewives have such abilities in them but they remain hidden as they get no exposure. I tell other women to try to explore the world on their own with courage and confidence as nobody will give anything to you on a platter; you have to discover the right options.”
