Vocational Education: Increasing the desirability quotient

Indian Education Congress 2013: ‘Vocational Education: Re-defining what it means to be “degreed”. Kamini Prasad, COO, Professional Education & Training, Centum Learning, represented Centum Learning at ‘India Education Congress 2013’ held in Faridabad on May 3rd, 2013, where she shared her perspective on ‘Vocational Education: Re-defining what it means to be “degreed”.

Thought leaders from the industry and eminent educationists discussed & deliberated upon the issues and concerns facing the vocational education domain. The foremost challenge impending future of vocational education in India, even after the sector witnessing considerable policy and institutional push, is the desirability quotient amongst its key stakeholders. The 64% of Indian population which is certain to comprise the potential workforce of the nation for the next 2 decades doesn’t perceive a career in Vocational space to be lucrative enough or even respectable for that matter! To add to the woes, the employers and the industry on a whole are invariably reluctant to value and reward the skilled workforce.…
