Skill Development in Emerging Economies

Centum Learning represented by Kamini Prasad, COO – Urban Skills, Centum Learning, participated in the Livelihoods Asia Summit 2014, December 10 – 11, 2014, New Delhi. The two day summit brought together over 60 thought leaders, policy makers and practitioners from the region for deliberations to eradicate poverty.

The session “Skill Development in Emerging Economies” moderated by Atul Bhatnagar, Chief Operating Officer, National Skills Development Corporation was addressed by leading industry stalwarts including: Kamini Prasad, COO, Centum Learning; Dr. A Santosh Mathew, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India; Mrinalini Kher, Co-founder and Hon. Secretary & Trustee, Kherwadi Social Welfare Association and Rajiv Sharma, Founder & Managing Director, Empower Pragati. The panel discussed the current structural framework of the education systems of the developing countries, strategies to overcome the challenges of the skilling industry to exploit the benefits of improving technologies and producing more workers capable of doing talent intensive jobs that require higher qualifications and exploring stakeholder partnerships to build prosperous knowledge economies.
