Centum Learning participated in Global Conference on Skilling in Schools as Strategic Training Partner

Centum Learning was the Strategic Training Partner for the recently concluded ‘Global Conference on Skilling in Schools’, organized by The Central Board of Secondary Education and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on July 18, 2013 in New Delhi.

The conference drew participation from a wide range of audience including, representatives from Govt. offices like, Director (EDUSAT & Vocational), CBSE, Mr. M.V.V. Prasada Rao, Director General, NIESBUD, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, Mr. A.K. Jha, IES, as well as veterans from the vocational education industry including, Mr. Sriram Narayanan, Vice President-Strategic Alliances, Pearson Group, Dr. Sandhya Chintala, Executive Director, NASSCOM, Mr. Narayanan Ramaswamy, Partner & Head, Education, KPMG India, etc. Besides, School Principals from more than 300 CBSE affiliated schools attended the conference and showed active participation on discussion topics, while also suggesting effective ways to elevate the standard of vocational skills as perceived by students and parents. Shweta Khanna, divisional manager, Professional Education & Training, represented Centum Learning at the conference as a panelist in the session titled, ‘Industry Perspective: Information-Experience-Innovation’, where she presented case studies on Centum Learnings’ success in executing vocational education programmes and thus inferred ways to replicate the same in the school ecosystem as well. Speakers, representatives from different stakeholder groups in the vocational education industry as well as general audiences were consentaneous on the fact that skills lack behind formal education in acceptability and desirability across the education ecosystem of the country and that issues in implementing vocational programmes in Indian schools are unique to India and thus demand a differential treatment.

Centum Learning, with its rich experience in vocational education training across diverse industry sectors and established presence across India, has also been empanelled as a Skills Knowledge Provider (SKP) for CBSE affiliated schools to impart skill competencies based vocational courses to students under the National Vocational Educational Qualification Framework (NVEQF). Under a similar partnership for the development of teachers, Centum Learning has been entrusted with the responsibility to conduct Strategic Effective Management & Leadership programmes for Teachers and Heads of institutions in CBSE affiliated schools.
