Centum WorkSkills India

Centum Learning and National Skill Development Corporation (a public- private partnership company set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance) have come together to form Centum Workskills India Limited, a unique Joint Venture to skill over 1.2 crore people across 11 states of India by 2022.

Centum Workskills India Limited is committed to building an empowered India by providing ‘Skills for Employability’ & aims to make India the Skills Capital of the world. It is the single largest organized initiative by the government and the private sector to achieve the national skill goals.

The mandate for this Joint Venture is to train 1.2 crore people by 2022 across 11 states, 383 districts and make them employable by providing livelihood opportunities.

Vision for India@75, envisages India to be a major player in shaping the emerging world order through economic strength, technological vitality and moral leadership. India’s population would have reached 1.3 billion people by 2022; and out of this - 780 million people would come under the working age group of 18 – 58 years. Out of these 780 million people, as much as 200 million people are expected to have full access to education, approx 500 million people may have little or no access to education and around 80 million people would be unemployable.

Further, in 2020, the world could have a shortage of 57 million working people while the Indian workforce will have a surplus of 46 million people. In order to reap the benefits of this demographic dividend India will have to equip this manpower with requisite skills across geographies.
